Amazon uses these reviews to rate their books.

To create a “verified” review you need
1. An active Amazon account – In order to leave a review you must have an active Amazon account. Amazon says, “…Only customers who have spent at least $50 on Amazon in the last 12 months can submit ratings and reviews.”

2. You must be logged into the same account you used to buy the book.

3. You need to actually buy a copy of the book in question for your “verified” review. Where available, you can buy a Kindle edition (e-book) for much less than the paperback version.

3. There should be some time between when you buy the book and when you leave your review.

Points worth noting (again)

1. Generally speaking, Amazon does not like it when you leave a review of a book immediately after buying it. They want there to be enough time to actually read the book. I’m not sure of the precise rule, or even if there is one. If you know where to find this rule, let me know.

2. If you leave a review of a book that has been given to you, or that you have purchased somewhere else, Amazon will NOT mark your review as “verified purchase”.

3. Non-verified-purchase reviews are still valuable because they show your comments to other potential buyers.

To see the reviews of a specific book on Amazon go to the book’s product page.
